Amman (February 2015), King Abdullah II Center for Excellence (KACE) has recently organized an awareness workshop on “The Environmental Sustainability Award” at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The workshop was held to introduce the award, its criterions and mechanism of participation of interested private sector organizations.
The Center launched the “The Environmental Sustainability Award” in the eighth cycle of the King Abdullah II Center for Excellence Award (2014/2015), in cooperation with The Ministry of Environment and Water Reuse and Environment Conservation Project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Jordan.
This Environmental Sustainability Award was established to help private sector organizations in planning, developing and implementing approaches and processes that will enhance their economic, environmental and social sustainability, thus resulting in positive impact on the economy, environment, and the society. This in turn will help organizations in increasing their competitive advantage, financial performance, risk management, market opportunity, and build their image as environment-friendly organizations. The Award will also contribute to raising the awareness of the general public on environmental pollution issues, and benefits of conservation. It also honors organizations for their excellence in environmental performance.
The Award is granted in each cycle in three categories, based on size of the organization. It is limited to the manufacturing companies in its first cycle and is divided upon large manufacturing organizations or their sub-units, medium size manufacturing organizations, and small size manufacturing organizations.
